Ballet - All ballet classes are participating in the production. Ballet students from grade 3 and up must attend two ballet classes per week to participate.

Acro, Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz, Hip Hop - All classes are participating in the production with a minimum 1 class requirement in each style.

Tap - All tap classes are participating in the production.

Eisteddfod/Performance Groups - All eisteddfod/performance groups will participate in the production with the same class requirements to be part of these groups.

Rehearsals

Dancers must attend all production rehearsals, dates listed above.

As we only have one quick run through on the venue stage, it is very important for students to attend ALL their group rehearsals to practise together. This is to ensure every dancer is confident with their dance and therefore has a fun and exciting day! Notification must be given in advance if your dancer will miss a rehearsal (please see our FAQ at the bottom of this page).

Class Attendance

Students must attend ALL their classes in Term 4.

Please ensure your dancer attends all their classes to ensure they learn the choreography for their group dance. If you are not attending a class due to illness etc, please contact us so we can let our teachers know. If you miss class without informing us, our teachers may assume you have changed classes or not returning and change choreography. It is important that students are in their correct class/es. Class changes are not allowed after the closing date of this form.

Participation Fees

To participate in the concert, a fee is payable per dancer as follows:

First dance item $190.00 then $85 for each additional item

All fees must be paid by Saturday 28th September via the MDA Parent Portal. The participation fee is not refundable after this date. Your dancers participation is not finalised until all fees are paid. This fee is separate to term 4 tuition fees.

Your participation fee has been calculated and added to your MDA account based on your dancers’ enrolments in classes participating in the concert (trial classes are not included until confirmed).

Your dancers concert enrolments are viewable in the MDA Parent Portal. Participation fees will be processed in accordance with MDA's payment policy.

FAQ

Is participation in the production compulsory?

No, participation in our annual production is not compulsory, however it is something all students look forward to and is a great opportunity for them to dance on stage in amazing costumes. We encourage all dancers to take part in our annual production as it is very rewarding experience and gives them the opportunity to showcase the skills they have learnt throughout the year. Please be aware that learning choreography for the annual production is part of general class lesson time.

I will be away during part of term 3 and/or 4, is that a problem?

Please inform us of the dates you will be away. We will check your absent dates with our teachers and respond as to your participation or an alternative which may include private lessons and/or make up classes where possible.

I will miss one/some of the rehearsals, can I still participate?

Please inform us of the rehearsals you will miss. We will check your absent dates with our teachers and respond as to your participation or an alternative which may include private lessons. All rehearsals are improtant so that all students in your group feel confident on stage. The venue rehearsal is particularly important as this is the only opportunity to practise on stage and to familiarise students with the venue.

I have a little one in the concert and not sure if she/he will go on stage?

With our young dancers 4 and under, we have older students helping them on stage. This is so they feel a little more confident having a big person with them. Our older students also take part in the young dancers rehearsals so they become familiar with the other. Students are never made to go on stage as we want the experience to be a pleasent and long lasting one. If you feel unsure as to whether your dancer is ok for stage please check with us.

I've heard dance concerts go on forever, how long does your concert go for?

Each concert will run for approximately 70 minutes with no interval.

Do you know what show my dancer will be in and the rehearsal times?

Until we have final participant numbers we are not able to work out rehearsal schedules and which show your dancer may be performing in. We do apologise for this as we understand you are juggling many activities and committments. If you have a specific time clash please contact us with details.

Please contact MDA if you have additional questions.
